Flaky Butter Biscuits
Soft, buttery, and delicious.
These versatile biscuits are great with gravy or as a vessel for your favorite jam, syrup, or even just fresh butter.
Ingredients
8 cups all-purpose flour
4 tbsp baking powder
4 tbsp sugar
4 tsp salt
1 1/3 cup cold butter (salted or unsalted), lard, or a combination
4 cups whole milk
Steps
1) Whisk together all the dry ingredients until well mixed.
2) Cube butter or lard into small 1/2 inch pieces
3) Mix butter into dry ingredients, rubbing the flour mixture into the butter until it is pea-sized and well disbursed.
4) Stir in milk until it creates a cohesive dough (might be shaggy).
5) Roll out to 1/2 inch thick, cut with biscuit cutter of choice
6) Put onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, bake at 425* for 13-15 minutes
